This is my first attempt at a concept sketch. This is also my first character I have drawn in the style I intend to do the comic / animations in. Not colouration wise, but this does look good as a concept.
Anyway, this is Eilanach, the only none Sykhien to inhabit the small island of (insert witty name for an island I am still torn over), and is the first person that Syke meets on his whimsical misadventure around the nuclear wastlands of the 'New World'.
Nicely done, as usual Been a while since I've seen anything from you.

I like the bloom of the really high contrast light.
Here's something to add to your journal even if it's wrong. When I first looked at it, I got the impression that it's very soft. Perhaps adding some sharpness to closer objects might give it some variety. Just in the darkest of shadows though (where no soft light can be scattered through) since the soft light bloom is good effect and the softness makes it unique from any other cartoon I've seen. That is just an idea though, perhaps I'm missing the point of the style, and the softness is growing on me too. Ithink some sharp/soft contrast might give it more of a 3D look rather than the image's softness being evenly distributed across all areas. Also, it may add more significance to the soft style if you juxtapose it with sharpness, something different, to emphasise the much more dominant style.
Hmmm.. if this seems critical it's because the good part goes without saying. The character design is kick arse as always. You know that already. It's something for you to consider, and if nothing else you can copy and paste what I've said into your Journal at the end if you need to evaluate your pic. Then say "Sod that! It's fine!". I'm just doing the boring part for you And I might just be talking out my arse, I certainly can do no better, your animal characters in particular are better than most professional cartoons.
Cheers dude ^u^ I do enjoy getting more than one line per comment, but two paragraphs is bliss! ^U^ This isnt entirely critical as such, im not gonna cry myself to sleep after eating my weight in chocolate truffles and caramel if that makes sense, lol.
However, this isnt the colouring style Ill use in the actual pieces, all the concepts for characters will probably be in a different style to one another, and I will pick the best one. Actually, you reckon I should put it to a vote when I have em all? get the poor bastards who will have to read this drivvel to choose a style that might distract them from the abismal plot, (when its complete)!
Actually, I have a free house soon for 3 weeks, you should bomb down and we can work on it! You always have immense ideas and a twisted sense of humour, we could tear through it! What we saying?

I am a little hesitent to put things to votes because democracy sucks. The more people you tally, the more likely you are of getting crappy feedback
Do whatever you think is best while being a little open to other ideas (for example a tutor improved one of my submissions tenfold by making 1 simple suggestion). A few opinions is better than one. But too many opinions and you just end up with drivel.

All that has ever been created was done so for a reason, even if that reason is just for it to be.
